Ein weltweiter Chor, vereint im Gesang
Zur diesjährigen Fête de la Musique am 21. Juni 2025 kommen Sänger:innen auf der ganzen Welt zusammen, um gemeinsam zu singen. Beim internationalen Chorprojekt „Taking Flight“ stehen Musik, Gemeinschaft und das verbindende Erlebnis des Singens im Mittelpunkt.
Zur selben Uhrzeit treffen sich Menschen in Veranstaltungsorten rund um den Globus – unter anderem in Kanada, Deutschland, Mexiko, Südafrika, der Türkei und den USA –, um spontan und mehrstimmig ein bekanntes Lied zum Thema „Taking Flight“ (Aufbruch, Freiheit, Fliegen) einzuüben. Nach einer kurzen Probe startet der weltweite Livestream: Jedes Land präsentiert seinen Beitrag live und nacheinander, sodass alle teilnehmenden Länder die Auftritte auf großen Bildschirmen mitverfolgen können.
Chorleiter:innen vor Ort wählen ein passendes Lied in ihrer Landessprache. Zum krönenden Abschluss singen alle Gruppen gemeinsam „Three Little Birds“ von Bob Marley – zeitgleich, weltweit, in Harmonie.
Taking Flight wird vom kanadischen Musikclub Hugh’s Room Live in Toronto koordiniert, der bereits 2024 mit dem Projekt Pulsations Teil des Make Music Day war. Die Teilnahme ist überall kostenfrei, ohne Konsumzwang und offen für alle Altersgruppen. Jede Stimme zählt – je mehr, desto besser!
Für Deutschland beteiligt sich die Fête de la Musique Eutin an dem internationalen Projekt.

A global choir, united in song.
This Make Music Day, singers across the globe will come together for Taking Flight — an innovative choral experience connecting communities through music.
On June 21, at exactly the same time in venues around the world – in Canada, Germany, Mexico, South Africa, Turkey, the US, and more – members of the public will gather to learn a popular song on the spot, in multi-part harmony. After this rehearsal, a global streaming broadcast will begin, where each choir will perform their song live, taking turns so that every participating country can watch every other country’s live performance on a large screen at the front of each room.
Choral directors in each country will select their own popular song for the occasion, in their local language, on the theme of “Taking Flight.” The event will close with a collective rendition of Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds,” sung by every group in harmony around the world.
Taking Flight is coordinated by Hugh’s Room Live, an independent music venue in Toronto Canada that previously joined Make Music Day in 2024 for Pulsations. All Taking Flight events are open to anyone, with absolutely no charge, drink minimum, or age restriction. The public is coming to sing! The more the merrier!
